The Tan Man and the Wisonsin Gal

Yesterday, Tommy and I headed out to do the three month photographs of baby boy Tanner. The really special thing about this shoot was that I had photographed him as a newborn as well...but that's not how I became to do the three month photos. Ironically, Tanner's parent's close friend from back home in Wisconsin is the one who put us on a path to meet again. Probably 10 months ago or so, the nice lady from Wisconsin contacted us to ask if we sold gift certificates and if we could drive to Greenfield, IN. We told her that it was no problem. I asked her when her friend's baby was due I and I think she said in 8 months or so. Tommy and I both thought this what you might call 'early planning.' We thought this friend was really on top of it. She told us she would be in touch later when it got closer to the due date. Eight months or so goes by and we had all but forgotten about the lady in Wisconsin...and then...she calls. We were both surprised and happy she remembered and we got her set up with her gift certificate.

I was contacted soon by Tanner's mother, and she mentioned over the phone that I might have done his newborn photos as well...and we both could not believe that we met again in this interesting and ironic way

Tanner is a perfect little baby. Cute all around. Adorable cheeks. Big blue eyes! He was very smiley when we got there and setting up and just as I started the photo taking he was all stares. So curious about the camera in front of my face. We ended up getting some great photographs.

We love him in his 'mini-me' chair. He looks like such the little man!

Enjoy some of these photos from the session...

Be there or be Fountain Square...

On March 2nd Tommy and I headed out with our good friends Rob and Jenny to finally do their engagement photos. We had been holding out for a while hoping for a good snowfall to do the photographs in but when that didn't pan out we settled for a nice Sunday. The temperature was the nicest we have had and it was a perfect overcast day for really nice lighting.

I had found this broken down warehouse with the graffiti and the windows broken out of it and ivy creeping up the side the night before and thought that would be our first stop for some pics. As we were doing photographs there I was lamely excited to notice we were on Kentucky ave...and Rob and Jenny just so happened to have just moved to Kentucky so we had to do some photographs by the sign of course.

This was such a fun photo shoot for me. I was really into it and Jenny and Rob were a lot of fun to work with. Rob's only requirements were to get photographs of them doing the spider on the swing set...and when you go in with those kind of requirements I often times think you end up leaving with a lot more. I felt like I was in college again I had a million ideas and just not enough time to do them all...and to keep Jenny and Rob any longer would of just been probably ridiculous.

But we then finished up with our photos at the old building. Then we were off to Fountain Square the location of their 'big day'. There is an old diner right on the corner in town and we took some real fun shots there. One of our good friends, Phil Barcio, headed up this great art movement in Fountain Square last year. It really shows of the communities collective art spirit. It is called The Fountain Square Mural Project and it is happening again this year. Basically, it is a community beautification project and it was executed wonderfully. We wanted to capture this new part of Fountain Square in our pictures so we used some of the murals as a back-drop to our shots.

After the Fountain Square portion of our session...we headed to a park to find a swingset. You guessed it...for some good 'ol "Spider" action.

Their personality's shine through and through in these photographs I think and it was such a labor of love working on all the photographs.

Thanks Rob and Jenny and we can't wait for the wedding!

What is a Portrait Party?

Well its quite simple. It's a great way for you to save money, hang out with your friends and family, and get some great photos taken. All you need to do is invite your friends. family, colleagues, etc.

You provide the guests and we'll bring cameras and ideas! Each child/family will have 20-30 minutes with Jennifer & Tommy.  We will then post all of the images online from the party in about a week's time. The person hosting the party (you) will receive a credit towards you own photographs. The credit will vary depending on how successful the party is.

You get a credit of 20% of the total amount of pictures sold to your party guests. For example, if the party generates $1,500 worth of pictures, you will receive a $300 credit towards your pictures. The credit counts only for pictures ordered within 3 weeks of the party.

Ideal situations for portrait parties could be: birthday parties, reunions, theme parties, a get together at the park...you invite the moms and kids, have a picnic and enjoy some fun times with your friends as Jennifer goes and does her thing with your little ones! Good locations for Portrait Parties are the IMA and Holiday Park. If you would like more information on hosting a party give us a call or an email.

Last year we did one in Evansville, so if your family lives out of town...we can work that out too!

One last thing...anyone that places their prder in the first 5 days of the pictures being up will get 20% off their order as well.  So all you have to do is encourage them to put in their orders. We will do all the rest.  We will take the pics, post them, and ship them.

Welcome to our new Blog!

Well...we launched our new website at the beginning of January and now we thought it was time to upgrade our blog as well.

Not only do we have a totally new interface, but it's easier to use and a fresh clean look.

And we might even keep this blog up to date. We just had a great photoshoot today with a very cute couple, Rob and Jenny. They are getting married in September and we had great fun today doing their engagement pictures.

Look for a post in the next few days with some of our favorite pictures from today's session.

Keep coming back often as we'll have our fun new shoots up here as well as "blog only" specials.

Take care...we'll see you soon.
